I'm currently exploring mixed media abstract work. I have a particular interest in expressionist or intuitive painting where I can express the ideas that make up my inner world.

Lost and Found

My latest collection of work was inspired by the paradox: "Every new beginning starts with an ending"

This collection began with the Create Anyway Collective course I took this winter with the artist David Limrite and his life coach partner, Jordan Blaquera.

I don't think I've ever grown so much within a course as I have in this one. Designed to assist artists in creating a cohesive body of work around a self directed theme, all the while managing their artist mindset, this course is a powerful 12 week journey. It promotes discipline, self awareness and productivity, with empowerment sessions and critiques along the way to keep you on track.

For myself, just looking inward to my own truth as an artist was worth the price of admission. But learning to create around a concept rather than just a visual plan was quite the evolution.

My theme was human transition through loss. It is a theme I'm well acquainted with. I walked that transformative path of grief as a young widow, then was moved to become a hospital palliative nurse to help patients and their families grapple with end of life issues. It's been an incredible artistic challenge and also emotionally therapeutic to translate these experiences visually.

The 10 paintings I created comprise my Lost and Found collection and can be found in my Daily Paintworks Gallery.
